The Mark and Barry LPC Podcast

Shoplifers vs. Retailers

Description:

In this week’s podcast, Barry interviews pioneer, visionary, and author of six books on the subject of Loss Prevention, Chuck Sennewald.

Chuck is an independent security management consultant and author of six books. Mr. Sennewald was the Director of Security for the Broadway Department Store and was with that firm for 18 years. Prior to this he was Chief of Security for the Claremont Colleges and a deputy sheriff for the County of Los Angeles.  Mr. Sennewald is the founder and first president of the International Association of Professional Security Consultants (IAPSC). He is a graduate of the California State University at Los Angeles and the U.S. Army’s Military Police School.  He commenced his consulting practice in 1979 and since then has serviced various national and local retailers in this country as well as Mexico.  Chuck talks with Barry about his book, Shoplifters vs. Retailers.

In this insightful book, the author, Charles A. Sennewald, a Security Management Consultant shares his professional expertise in the field of retail security with actual cases from the perspective of the person stopped, then from the point of view of the security agent. Following each such scenario, Mr. Sennewald then analyses what occurred and informs the reader whether the detention was valid or done in error...and why! This unusual treatment of this common but misunderstood problem in our society provides the consumer, the merchant, skilled legal professionals and professional store security agents with a new insight not offered by any other book or other written materials.
Chuck discusses his book and answers some questions when it comes to both the retailers and companies rights.
